Teaching in Practice
Bohai University lays an emphasis on training students’ creative spirit and ability to put theory into practice so as to strengthen their future competitiveness.After years of hard work,a distinctive way of education has been achieved to train students for future job opportunities.In 1998,successfully held in Bohai University was the meeting for Liaoning Province student-teacher’s professional skills.In 2004,Bohai University began for the first time an aptitude test to its students.To be more exact,in the first three years,students are given aptitude tests,once a year,so as to monitor their actual situation in receiving educational programs.For those who fail in the test,Bohai University will no longer recommend them a future job.Since the beginning of the test,a very positive result has been obtained,and students’ ability to put theory into practice has been greatly improved.
Famous Project
In 2003,Bohai University began to improve its teaching quality by implementing”Famous Project”,utilizing quality educational resources and establishing a complete teaching quality monitoring system,in order to develop itself and meet the needs of education for everyone.”Famous Project” refers to famous curricula(excellent curricula),famous teachers（excellent teachers,academic leaders,and teachers who play a main role in teaching）,famous programs(advantageous and distinct programs),famous textbooks(excellent textbooks),famous research projects(teaching reform projects)and famous teaching methods.Since the beginning of this project,the whole teaching quality is on the rise and the teachers are motivated.Bohai University’s famous curricula and famous teaching methods stand first in the list in Liaoning Province’s higher institutes of education.Good results are also achieve in advantageous programs and teaching reform projects.
Open Education
The open educational system is based on good teaching resources in other key universities,whose resources are made use of by Bohai University students so that Bohai University’s training modes are enriched and extended to “3+1”and “2+2”,i.e.3 years in Bohai University,and 1 year in other Universities or 2 years in Bohai University,and another 2 years in other universities.The credits achieved from other universities will be transferred to Bohai University.Since the beginning of open education in 1998,good results have been obtained,great supports have been given by other University by educational experts and parents.This reform in education has been reported by such news media and journals as”China’s Higher Education”,”Heilongjiang Higher Educational Study””Liaoning Higher Educational Study”.China Educational Newspaper”,and “Liaoning Daily”.The research project “Study on Educational Modes by Using Quality Educational Resources to Improve Training Quality”was approved as A-class teaching reform project in BohaiUniversity in 2003,and won the first province-leveled teaching researching prize in 2004.
